The team at Environmental Geochemistry International (EGi) continues to grow and expand its global presence, with a new team member joining us in Canada.
Forest Brisbin has joined EGi as a Senior Consultant in our Vancouver Office and is based in southern Alberta. She is a Professional Geoscientist with more than seven years of experience in environmental geochemistry and metal leaching and acid rock drainage (ARD) assessment across Canada. Her experience also spans contaminated sites, geotechnical testing and laboratory work.
At SLR Consulting, Forest evaluated the metal leaching and ARD potential of ore and waste rock for base metal mining projects in British Columbia to support pre-feasibility studies and permitting. She also led ARD programs for quarries, transport infrastructure, and residential development. As an Environmental Geoscientist and project manager with SLR, she conducted contaminated site investigations to identify and characterise contamination, evaluate risks, and develop remediation and management strategies to protect human health and the environment. At EGi, Forest primarily supports the geochemistry team on ARD assessments for mining and other industry clients, using her knowledge of contaminant geochemistry and Provincial regulations.
Before SLR, Forest worked with Pretivm Resources on exploration geology at Brucejack Mine in British Columbia's Golden Triangle and has laboratory experience as a laboratory technician with Northern Geo Testing & Engineering and AGAT Laboratories. Forest holds a Bachelor of Earth Science from the University of Victoria and is a registered Professional Geoscientist in British Columbia and Alberta.
Forest first came across EGi's name in the acknowledgements of the AMIRA ARD Test Handbook. "Finding out that EGi had helped develop the Australian guidance on ARD was impressive," Forest said. "What really appealed to me was the chance to work alongside some of the people whose work helped establish the foundation of ARD assessment." She was also drawn by the opportunity to help grow the company's business in Canada.

Outside work, Forest loves the outdoors: hiking with her family, skiing, and mountain biking. A keen angler from years on the West Coast, she is now hoping to try ice fishing in Alberta.
"I'm really excited to be working in the mining sector again, and to put everything in my toolbox to use for our mining clients," Forest said. "EGi works with some great clients on many different mining projects, and that will help me to keep expanding that toolbox."
Welcome to the team, Forest.
